Set in the southern range of the Sintra Mountains, Penha Longa Hotel is a palazzo style resort. It has a 27-hole golf course and a high end spa. The Estoril Racetrack is within a mile of the resort. All the rooms in Penha Longa are provided with private balconies with views of either the mountain or the golf course. Standard facilities like satellite television are present along with many personal touches like espresso coffeemakers and pillow menus. The hotel features many facilities for recreation like swimming pools, squash court and tennis court, and a state of the art spa centre. A fitness centre is present as well. Free valet parking facilities are extended. The resort has a total of 6 restaurants with a diverse cuisine served. The resort is about a half hour’s drive from the Lisbon International airport. The location is suited for hiking and biking expeditions.

The Penha Longa Resort is in a picturesque location right on the Sintra Mountains. It is surrounded by the vast expanse of Sintra Cascais Nature Reserve. Redesigned from a 17th century monastery, the hotel still retains some of the ruins in its 27-hole golf course. Guests can enjoy the spectacular surroundings as well as spend time at the beaches of Estoril and Cascals which are a ten minute drive from the resort.
The rooms and suites at the resort all have balconies with splendid views of the mountain or golf course. Beds are luxuriously comfortable. The bathrooms are spacious with separate bath and shower cubicle. The rooms have facilities of flat screen television, Nespresso coffee machine and iPod station.
The resort is well equipped to provide entertainment. It has a naturally large playground and provides scope for hiking, biking and jeep tours. The spa and fitness centre offers high end treatments and therapies, and guests find the time very relaxing and healing. The golf course is one among the top in Continental Europe. Guests can enjoy a game of tennis or squash at the club. With a choice of six restaurants and pool side bar, guests are treated to a diverse fare of the best cuisine from Portuguese to Catalan. Parking facilities are free at the resort.
The staff lacks efficiency, and service, especially around the pool, is slow. The portion of the food serving is small for the price charged. Even an extra portion of bread is charged.
The hot water tap and shower do not function properly in the bathroom. Wi-Fi is not freely available in the rooms and the charge is high. Though it is free in common areas, it is rather inconvenient to walk all the way each time a guest needs to use the facility.
The outdoor pool is not heated and gets too cold to swim. The loungers around are in bad shape as they are left out in the nights and even in the rain.
