Langdale Chase Hotel is an imposing Country house hotel situated within six-acres of landscaped gardens, leading down to the shores of Lake Windermere; full of character features; with oak panelling, carved fireplaces and oil paintings adorning the walls.
Rooms are individually decorated and, while all have private bathrooms, some include four poster beds or roll-top baths, others a jacuzzi bath or stained glass ceiling. The majority enjoy lake views.
The gardens at Langdale Chase Hotel provide easy access to a multitude of woodland and lake-side walks and free Wi-Fi and complimentary parking is available.
The hotels Rosette-awarded restaurant serves a table d'hôte menu, there is an intimate bar, and lunch and afternoon tea can be taken indoors or out on the terrace.
Ambleside is two-miles from the hotel, Windermere is three, and guests can enjoy a variety of activities from golf and sailing, to water skiing and angling, in the near vicinity.
If you're looking for a peaceful spot to recharge your batteries, Langdale Chase may be the place for you. Previous guests have loved early morning swims from the hotel jetty, woodland walks and cosying up in front of the log fires.
With its location on the shores of Lake Windermere, it will come as no surprise that the views from the hotel are stunning; with the majority of common areas and rooms enjoying the vista. The hotel gardens are also quite beautiful, and all six acres are immaculately well-kept.
Newly refurbished Lake House rooms.
The Lake House building is a fairly new addition to the hotel and, as such, rooms are more recently refurbished than most. While some guests prefer the more traditional styling of rooms in the main house, others, who prefer contemporary styling, may find the Lake House suites better suited to their tastes.
Looking a little tired.
Some previous guests have suggested that the hotel is beginning to look a little tired and, while it doesn't detract from the overall experience for most guests, it has been said that some degree of sympathetic restoration would go a long way.
The downsides to an older building.
As you might expect from an older building, no two rooms are alike. Those with mobility issues are advised to ring ahead as some rooms can be found down long, rambling corridors and have steps to enter both the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Limited access to Wi-Fi.
For many guests, a break at Langdale Chase offers an opportunity to get away from it all, although, most will wish to keep in touch with the outside world on occasion. If you are among the latter, the lack of Wi-Fi in guest rooms may be an issue.
