Hotel Uranus Istanbul Topkapi (Istanbul, Turkey)

The Mercure Istanbul Topkapi opened in 2015. Guests are generally favourably impressed by spacious rooms with modern decor, comfortable beds with nice bedside reading lamps, luxurious rainshowers, and decently speedy Wi-Fi. Fit travellers love the very large, well-equipped gym on site.

Though the hotel is likely to be most popular with corporate guests and air travellers because of it's location, guests also find it's only a ten-minute walk to the Metrobus and the Tramway stops, and the tram goes all the way to Sultanahmet and beyond.

Guests widely describe the front desk staff as friendly and professional, happy to provide complimentary upgrades when possible, answer questions, and accommodate special requests. The lobby bar is very well-stocked, and offers plenty of space and comfortable furniture for guests to relax. There's also a nice view from the open air terrace.

Light sleepers find that the rooms facing the M5 highway too noisy for a good night's rest, even with the windows closed. A few guests have also had issues with the air conditioning struggling to cool the space effectively.

Guests have commented that the swimming pool is much smaller than it appears in the pictures. Some also note that though an airport shuttle is advertised on the website, there seems to be a problem with the service, as the staff arranges for regular taxis instead, and a few guests have been inconvenienced after arriving at the airport expecting a shuttle.

Several guests have been let down by booking or billing errors at the front desk, poor service in the restaurant, or housekeeping oversights.
