Hotel Sporting (Porto Rotondo, Italy)

This hotel fit the bill for those looking for seaside accommodation on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda. In fact, many guests felt that the waterside access here was first among this hotel's positive attributes. This beach is private and to the relief and delight of many visitors, boasts ample loungers and umbrellas, making sun lounging here a snap.

Based on the comments of past guests, the staff here are friendly and helpful. The reception team are happy to assist with local transport timetables and keen to offer suggestions for restaurants and cafés, but many visitors were also very impressed with this property's relentlessly cheery pool staff.

While the beach location here has received much praise, others were also impressed that this hotel gave them great access to town. Many reported that both the busy marina of Porto Rotondo as well as the nearby town itself - which boasts a number of restaurants and cafés - is just a short stroll away.

Despite this being a luxury property, a number of guests felt that the rooms here were a bit basic and had a dated feel. The presence of mismatched furniture in units gave this hotel a less than swanky atmosphere.

This hotel does have an on-site restaurant, but a very high number of guests felt that both the food and drinks menu here were rather overpriced. Some felt that better value could be had in any of the local restaurants nearby.

Finally, a number of guests were left disappointed by this hotel's breakfast buffet, which didn't seem to feature any cooked items. Many would have liked to have seen a few egg dishes.
