Messner’s Dorsoduro location was found to be quiet and relaxed, away from the crowds, but nevertheless close to attractions like the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. Central tourist highlights like St. Mark’s Square can be reached by crossing the Grand Canal via the nearby waterbus stop.

Guests generally appreciated the simple, continental breakfast included in the price, as well as the traditional fare on offer in the restaurant, although a few people thought the breakfast did not offer enough choice.

The reception staff was found to be friendly and helpful, and would look after your luggage after checkout, while guests were given free tickets to cross the Grand Canal on the traghetti ferries.

Many of those who stayed found issue with the rooms, and especially in the annex, with reports of dated decor, mould, and musty smells. Some also found the rooms dark, were displeased to find their bathroom was separate from their bedroom or reported some maintenance issues.

The Wi-Fi here was found to be not particularly strong, and a few guests said they did not get any coverage at all in the annex.

A few of those who stayed found Messner to be a little too far from the train station or Venice’s central attractions, but the vast majority found moving about to be easy with the water bus or traghetti.
