About The Bell Hotel

The grade II listed The Bell Hotel is opposite the Abbey, in the heart of historic Tewkesbury.

A popular inn since the 16 th century; rooms at The The Bell Hotel are now en-suite with colour television, direct telephone, free Wi-Fi, hairdryer and ironing and beverage facilities.

Parking is available, with designated spaces for disabled visitors. The hotel’s bar, where entertainment and music nights are popular features, is a favourite with ‘locals’ and visitors. There are impressive facilities for social events and weddings and it is just a short walk from the town centre’s shops, theatre, Abbey and restaurants.

Buffet style breakfast is wide ranging and includes a fully cooked option. Later, there are extensive hotel restaurant menus and the bar provides further great choices of wines, spirits, beers and lager.

Tewkesbury’s medieval streets are on the doorstep with Gloucester, Cheltenham, Malvern and the Cotswolds all within easy travelling distance.

Positive Reviews

Top Tewkesbury location

Tewkesbury is very under rated, but well worth a visit. Tewkesbury Abbey is always popular with tourists. and it’s just across the road from the hotel! The medieval streets and buildings are nearby and for visitors staying in the town; this hotel has to be the most conveniently positioned.

Great value meals

Breakfast choices are sufficient to meet a whole range of tastes and requirements and they are freshly prepared. Later, restaurant and bar food is also appetising and well priced. *Locals eat and drink here … so it must be good value!

Friendly, professional staff

Very accommodating, the staff here are friendly and contribute towards a relaxed and enjoyable stay. Rooms are clean and nothing is too much trouble.

Negative Reviews

A creak on the stairs

This old building could tell a tale or two … and the old stairs and creaking floorboards have quite a loud voice. The creaking type noise is a constant source of annoyance … and lack of sleep.

A lot of night music

Entertainment and music nights in the bar are great bonuses for visitors. They aren’t so good, though, when trying to get to sleep. Rooms do suffer in this respect.

Olde worlde charm … or just plain dated?

The charm lies in the hotel’s historic heritage … and there are restrictions as to what improvements can be carried out in these old buildings. However, some facilities in rooms are just plain drab and crying out for some reasonable upgrading.
