About Ben Wyvis Hotel

Located in the picturesque Scottish Highlands, Ben Wyvis Hotel Hotel rises against the backdrop of the Blackmuir woods, a mansion whose grounds are as impressive as its interior.

Each one of the 92 rooms is filled with Scottish charm and luxury. Many guestrooms are also pet friendly, offer en-suite bathrooms,  and a beverage tray with traditional shortbread to welcome your arrival.

The restaurant, The Jacobite, deserves its local reputation for serving some of the region’s finest traditional Scottish recipes. Try the Cullen skink, rack of lamb, or sample a wide selection of Scottish whiskeys, ales or wines.

Ben Wyvis Hotel Hotel, a Victorian Mansion in the day, has been converted to welcome guests to enjoy the lavish surroundings of a bygone era.

Guests can enjoy exploring the Scottish castles nearby, have coffee and tea in Strathpeffer, take a tour of the Glen Ord Whiskey Distillery, or see the Falls of Rogie.

Positive Reviews

Charming and Friendly Staff

All guests agree that the managers of the hotel, a couple themselves, are warm and inviting, eager to assist, accommodate, to tell you a story, or steer you in the right direction if you want to go exploring. The staff are all equally as open and friendly, quick with a smile, and service beyond compare.

A Bonny Good Feast

If you've never tasted REAL Scottish food, then you must eat at the Jacobite Restaurant located inside the hotel. Even the locals make a point of eating there, it's that good. They also proudly serve many of the areas drinks, particularly the whiskeys.

A Taste of How it Used to Be

If you love old world charm, then you will love this hotel. The owners of the hotel have maintained many of the Victorian era décor and architecture, and the grounds feature centuries old trees.

Negative Reviews

Not For Business Travellers

This is not the place for those who are staying for business purposes. Breakfast is served at 7:30am which is too late for most business travellers. For those checking in before 3pm, you will be out of luck. Check in will not be allowed until after 3pm.

Grounded Out

Rooms are on the smaller side, even those with the King beds in them. But, those that stayed on the ground floor said that the mould on the windows had stained the curtains. Those with allergies to moulds should perhaps avoid ground floors.

Very Noisy and Touristy

This hotel caters to the coach tour circuit, so at any given moment there are herds of people coming through. You will be required to pay for your stay upfront before entering your room, and if you have a room over the staff quarters be prepared to stay awake.
