Positive Reviews

Good value for short stays such as business trips.

The inn is a decently priced place for when you need a bed, bathroom, and a meal for a short stay in Middlesbrough. Popular with business and leisure travellers, it's conveniently located near golf courses, entertainment venues, parks, shopping, and other restaurants and pubs.

Reliable and friendly staff are a nice benefit.

The staff here do their job right, and focus on making sure that guests have a pleasant and worthy stay. They're attentive, knowledgeable, and polite, and ready to attend to requests, enquiries, and whatever else may benefit your stay.

Spa and pool amenities are a great bonus for free.

Sporting Lodge bears additional appeal because of the amenities offered that are commonly featured at higher priced inns. The complimentary use of sauna and gym facilities is a welcome bonus, especially for guests who stay here because of meetings or appointments.

Negative Reviews

Wi-Fi, TV, and phone receptions are inconsistent.

Mobile and entertainment devices do not always fare well here. The signals are often spotty, and on occasion, just non-existent. If you're relying on staying in touch with people or getting some online work done, you may have problems. You may also not be able to entirely rely on the telly to unwind.

Poor housekeeping puts a damper on the stay.

The rooms are not always at their best upon check-in. Signs of dirt and debris are evident, and they're not consistently maintained, despite requests. Towels are not always refreshed, and the bathrooms are also not as spotless as they should be.

Management doesn't handle non-resident noise well.

Management doesn't always attend to the disruptions created by non-residents. The facilities and restaurant are open to everyone, and at times, not enough attention is given towards how events or excessive noise affects guests.
