Positive Reviews

Truly a trip back in time.

Many guests book their stay at The White Hart specifically to enjoy the quirks associated with its incredible age of 600 years. The slightly creaky, sloping floors, low ceilings, smallish stairways and door frames, and occasionally noisy, squeezed-in mode

Friendly, welcoming staff.

Most guests find they are welcomed warmly and that the staff makes every effort to ensure their stay is pleasant and relaxing. They are pleased to share their knowledge of the inn and its historic setting.

Convenient location for sightseers.

Guests who hope to see the Cathedral and Abbey while in St. Albans will do so, directly across the street from the inn. The walk into town is short and pleasant, with good connections to rail and motorways for those venturing further afield.

As you might expect in a 600 year old coaching inn, there is no lift and the stairways can pose a problem for guests with mobility concerns or a lot of luggage, though the staff is happy to help.

Old world charm not for everyone.

Most of the negative reviews for this inn have to do with the size of the bedrooms and bathrooms, or other particulars relating to the hotel's significant age which, again, is the very reason some guests choose to stay.
