Positive Reviews

Enjoyable on-site dining

Most guests rate the dining at Samphire highly. Some found the menu a little pricey but almost all agree that the additional outlay is worthy of the quality of the food and the pleasant surroundings. The sharing platters are noted as being especially enjoyable.

Stylish rooms with great views

The quality of the rooms at Orocco Pier tends to satisfy guests, with most describing them as clean and comfortable with a decent selection of amenities. Those guests whose rooms offered views of the Firth of Forth and the Railway Bridge were particularly impressed.

Friendly and helpful hotel staff

Guests report feeling welcome from the moment they arrive at this hotel. The staff certainly appears to go out of their way to ensure you feel at home, with many guests suggesting that the service from the front-desk staff cannot be faulted.

Negative Reviews

Restaurant service is occasionally slow

Although guests rate the food served in Samphire highly, a fair number of reviews also suggest that the service could be a little more efficient. Waiting up to half an hour or more for your meal to arrive doesn't seem all that uncommon.

Some rooms are noisy

While those guests who benefitted from sea views were pleased, those who staying in a room beside the road sometimes complain of traffic noise, not to mention the less than appealing view. The advice is to book early and request a sea view.

Parking may prove problematic

Several guests mention that the parking in front of the hotel is limited, so this may be an issue during busier times. Also, the public parking alternative requires that you regularly return to feed the parking meter.
