About Turks Head

This coaching house was restored in 1874 to provide a range of accommodations a short drive from the Northumberland coastline.

A variety of rooms are available at The Turks Head, including guestrooms with en suite facilities and equipped cottages. Free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen television plus tea and coffee making equipment are available in each.

The Turks Head is a renovated 16th century coaching house with some original features plus a play area for children and lounge for guests.

A complimentary buffet breakfast is served every morning which includes hot options. There is also an adjoining pub and restaurant with drinks in the beer garden and menus based on local produce.

A number of shops and restaurants in Rothbury can be reached in less than five-minutes by walking. There are also hiking trails at Coquetdale about three miles away, and the National Trust site of Craigside House and Gardens are 10 minutes away by car.

Positive Reviews

Convenient and centrally located.

This peaceful inn is located in an area that many people find to be lovely. From the property it is easy to explore the shops of Rothbury village, or go for a stroll to enjoy the scenery at Craigside.

Staff members always have on a smile.

Good service is found throughout the inn and adjoining pub. No matter what time of day or who visitors interact with they are sure to find pleasant people who are all too happy to help.

Satisfying and filling meals.

Travellers may look to The Turks Head as a place to put their feet up, but locals know it as a place for great meals. Whether it is a complimentary buffet at breakfast, seasonal dish for dinner, or just a satisfying cask ale, people who visit the pub are glad they did.

Negative Reviews

Guestrooms can be cold depending on the weather.

Depending on the season and the conditions outside, guest accommodations at The Turks Head have the potential to be very chilly. Rooms don't have any central heating, and guests will rely on electric fireplaces to provide a toasty place.

Not a very quiet place to stay.

The Turks Head is a well known pub in the area, not only for their fare but also the entertainment. That live entertainment can cause a raucous late into the night, which keeps inn guests wide awake.

Property is a little frayed around the edges.

While managing the inn along with the pub, it is clear where the priorities lay for the proprietor. Private accommodations are light on amenities and the decor creates a general sense of lacking when compared to the dining area.
