Positive Reviews

Stunning Beach View Rooms.

The rooms in this hotel range from standard to deluxe. Superior rooms with a beach view in particular offer stunning views across the beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The sound of the waves outside is relaxing and lulls guests to sleep. These rooms are spacious with a separate living area and large bathroom.

Fantastic Food.

The food served in the hotel’s restaurants is superb. The Sandhouse offers an a la carte breakfast menu, rather than a more standard breakfast buffet. The portions served at this meal are very generous. The servings for other meals are equally generous and the food is of a high quality.

Super Spa Treatments.

The spa area of the hotel is wonderful and of a very high quality. The massages are relaxing and the products used are produced in nearby county Sligo.

Negative Reviews

Unreliable Weather.

Although obviously the weather is beyond the control of the hotel, those seeking a warm, sunny holiday should take note that it is located far north and the weather is mixed. This can lead to spectacular storms, overcast skies and rain, or on rare occasions sunshine. However, in all but the worst of weather the beach and waves are popular with surfers.

A Little Dated.

For many the hotel’s age and interiors add to its many charms. However a small minority were disappointed to find creaking stairs and wear and tear on the exterior from the Atlantic winds.

Food a Pricey and Noisy Weekends.

Some found the food rather on the high side for what was on offer. Many local families drink in the surfer’s bar and also dine in the hotel at weekends. This can lead to a lot of unsupervised children running around and making a lot of noise, which can disturb hotel guests’ dining experience.
