Positive Reviews

Fabulous rooms

Many guests comment on the nautical-themed decor and fabulous views. Reviews also suggest that you'll find the rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. Aside from the decor and views, guests also appreciate the free Wi-Fi, seating areas and comfy beds.

Fascinating building

Guests love the history of this tavern. The property is thought to have been where Sir Walter Raleigh smoked the first tobacco pipe in England. Plus, it has been used as a courtroom. Whether you'll view the final fact as a positive remains to be seen, but the property is said to play host to three spirits (and not the type you'll find behind the bar).

Superb location

Guests love being so close to the waterfront and note that the tavern places you near the harbour and several dining spots. Furthermore, if you don't mind a little drive, you can be at the UK's most southerly point in under half an hour.

Negative Reviews

Food occasionally disappoints

While many reviews for this tavern are positive, guests do occasionally leave negative feedback, typically relating to dining. Guests were sometimes disappointed with both the food and the service. To be fair, this kind of feedback is rare but does indicate standards can slip occasionally.

No parking

The Dolphin Tavern doesn't have its own car park and a number of guests found it a bit of a chore to have to locate a space and carry luggage to and from their car. Parking is occasionally available outside but is not guaranteed.

Infrequent complaints

Comments about traffic noise pop up occasionally among reviews. Plus, a small number of guests had a little trouble accessing the Wi-FI. Other guests had no problems with either of these issues, so there's probably not too much to worry about.
