Positive Reviews

Handy central location with sea views.

Guests liked the central yet relatively peaceful location in a town that can become a real hive of activity during peak season. Motorists liked being near the A85 main road and having the ferry terminal and train station within five minutes’ drive. If you’re walking, it’s about 20 minutes’. Guests were impressed with the views towards the Isle of Kerrera, although some rooms had better panoramas than others.

Positive about service and food.

Most reviewers praised the friendly and organized service from helpful staff who had good local knowledge. Diners were generally positive about the catering and service in the main restaurant. Most thought the full breakfast buffet was a big hit due to the good food and wide choice.

Clean hotel with luxury features.

Cleanliness throughout the hotel was of a good standard, according to many reviewers, some of whom said it was spotless. Luxury features like the spa baths proved popular as did the posh leather sofas in the lounge.

Negative Reviews

Some noise issues.

Light sleepers in certain rooms sometimes reported being able to hear the elevator and occasionally noise from the kitchen in the mornings. Reviewers staying in the annexe frequently mentioned the limited soundproofing between rooms enabling them to hear their neighbors.

Access issues.

If you have limited mobility, remember that the elevator is reached after climbing a few stairs, which inconvenienced some guests. Motorists complained about the limited on-site parking and difficulty manoeuvring their vehicle as the car park was small. However, there was further public parking nearby.

Some criticism of rooms and facilities.

Some visitors thought their rooms were rather small; others felt there was dated décor and aging furniture. Occasionally the spa baths didn’t work and there were speed and signal issues reported with the free Wi-Fi.
