About Newquay International Backpackers

Newquay International Backpackers is a lively hostel situated in the heart of Newquay, the popular surfing town on the north coast of Cornwall.

There are a variety of rooms available, from seven bed dormitories, to three bed dormitories, as well as twin, double and single bedrooms. All rooms have their own sinks, and larger dormitories have en-suite bathroom facilities.

WiFi is available for guests, as well as a number of communal areas such as a lounge with TV and DVD player, as well as outdoor space and a sauna. A laundry service is available, as well as communal guitars. Staff are happy to arrange surfing lessons.

A large, fully-equipped kitchen is available for guests to use throughout the day. Breakfast is served daily in the dining room.

Newquay International Backpackers is located close to Fistral Beach, also close to the town centre.

Positive Reviews

Convenient, budget accommodation.

A number of guests comment on the fact that the hostel is very affordable, with many guests mentioning that it serves well as budget accommodation for students and backpackers. Surfing guests add that the hostel is well suited to surfers, with an outdoor shower and back entrance, as well as somewhere to store surfboards.

Friendly, accommodating staff.

A few guests mention Lorna and Dave, the proprietors of the hostel, commenting that they are friendly, welcoming and accommodation. Guests comment that staff are more than happy to provide information and advice on the local area.

Great location for the beach and centre of Newquay.

A large number of guests comment that the location of the hostel is ideal, reportedly a short walk from the surfing beach, and a short walk from the main town centre of Newquay, with all of its pubs, bars and clubs.

Negative Reviews

No sense of security.

A couple of guests complain that there seems to be very little in the way of security at the hostel. Guests comment that old rooms are without locks, and that there are no safes in bedrooms. However, there do seem to be CCTV cameras inside the hostel.

Late night noise from other guests.

A few guests complain of the noise from other guests, some of whom reportedly go on making noise until the early hours of the morning. Guests comment that other residents can be heard playing guitars and talking loudly outside the hostel.

Mixed reviews regarding cleanliness.

Reviews concerning cleanliness are very mixed indeed. Whilst some guests comment that the hostel is kept clean and fresh-smelling, a number of guests state that it is grimy and dirty, with some minor and severe maintenance issues.
