About Pension Miguel

Situated barely 200 yards from the beach, Pension Miguel Guest House offers cosy and friendly accommodation in a charming whitewashed Andalusian property.

The rooms are simply furnished, but have a certain understated elegance. Each features private bathroom, ceiling fan and minibar.

The star feature of Pension Miguel Guest House is undoubtedly its charming little roof terrace. It is a great place to socialise and meet other guests, and has lovely views over the rooftops to the Mediterranean.

A basic continental breakfast is available every morning, and there are some good authentic cafes and restaurants in which to enjoy the other meals. Reception staff will be happy to provide recommendation if asked.

The beach is perhaps the main attraction in the immediate area, but Nerja is a good base from which to explore much of Andalusia. The Alhambra is about 61 miles north in Grenada, while Malaga is 36 miles to the west.

Positive Reviews

Gracious and welcoming owners

The owners and hosts, Ian and Jane, were almost universally praised for being very welcoming, and acting like, well, the perfect hosts. It seemed they were very relaxed, and prepared to socialise and interact with guests, so as to get to know them better and discover how they may be of assistance.

Homely building with good atmosphere

Many guests really liked the charming traditional Andalusian building with its nooks and crannies, saying its quirkiness helped to engender a good atmosphere among the guests staying there.

Very close to the beach

Many of the guests were on something of a beach break, and were very happy to have the object of their travels available just a couple of minutes' walk down the road.

Negative Reviews

Very noisy location

This was perhaps the most common, and most serious, of the criticisms. A very large number of guests reported that the guest house's location meant that it inevitably received a lot of street noise at night. While most were not terribly upset by it, perhaps since they were often the ones outside making the noise, some did have their sleep disturbed. Earplugs were recommended.

No tea or coffee making facilities

Several guests were very disappointed to discover that their rooms contained no tea or coffee making facilities. While of course this is partly a cultural issue, considering the number of British visitors, and their love of in-room facilities, guests found it odd they had not been included.

No air conditioning

While guests overwhelmingly enjoyed their stay at the guest house, those travelling in summer certainly did miss having air conditioning. While there were fans available, they never seemed to do much more than playfully chase the warm air around the room.
