Positive Reviews

Character Location

Described by guests as a perfect location, with a splendid outlook over the river, this bed and breakfast establishment is combined with a very English and traditional style of café/restaurant that provides well cooked traditional style food. Guests stated that they would have no hesitation in recommending Bank House.

Top Rate English Breakfast

The welcome was praised by a number of the guests and visitors who came to sample the fare at the restaurant. The English breakfast certainly strikes a chord with those who stay and eat here and has been found to be tasty and well presented. Relaxing background music was liked. Visitors dropped by for a drink, and found the view excellent and the furniture outside comfortable.

Comfortable and Clean

The guest room was clean and the bed was comfortable, although the guests felt that the bathroom had a slightly 'unloved' air, and that a general re-decoration would not go amiss.

Negative Reviews

Slightly Expensive

It was considered to be rather pricey, but excellent food.

Could Do With Upgrading

Guests who stayed found the sheets clean, but the bedding worn, grubby and ripped. They described the room as being tired and worn, the bathroom was dirty, and all the accommodation needed upgrading.

Varying Welcome

The reaction to the welcome given by the proprietor seems to vary enormously between different guests. This would seem to be somewhat dependant on the mood of the owner, and his reaction to the differing guests and their personalities. This is a very English phenomenon, and very different from the standardized and sanitized welcome given by the hotel chains!
