Positive Reviews

Smart and comfortable rooms

Guests were upbeat about the revamped rooms, saying they were a pleasant blend of old and new. Many described them as being clean, comfortable and well-appointed with cosy beds plus modern and well-equipped en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers.

Quaint village location bordering the Cotswolds

This property reportedly enjoyed a tranquil and pretty location in the west Oxfordshire village of Filkins. Reviewers said they could easily walk to village shops, amenities and bus stops, while motorists liked the ample free parking. It was also just off the A361 and within easy reach of the A40, A420 and M4 for quick and easy access to stately homes, area attractions and beauty spots. Moreover, the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was on the doorstep with its scenic rolling countryside and quaint villages built from honey-coloured local stone.

Relaxed atmosphere plus good food and service

Visitors liked the way this historic country pub had a relaxed atmosphere and benefited from friendly and helpful personnel. Diners generally had good things to say about the food and service in the restaurant. Guests liked the extensive menu and naughty but nice desserts.

Negative Reviews

Lack of tea and coffee disappointed some

Some guests said their rooms lacked tea and coffee-making facilities, which disappointed those who had wanted to be able to make hot drinks at their leisure.

Occasional restaurant grumbles

Although reviewers often enjoyed the restaurant food, service and ambience, some critics claimed prices were a little steep or that the vegetarian options were limited. During busy periods, some diners felt the service lacked a personal touch at times.

Wi-Fi coverage could have been better

Although visitors appreciated the free Wi-Fi, some noted that the network offered patchy coverage or sluggish speeds in some corners of the property.
