Positive Reviews

Excellent central location

This was perhaps what guests most appreciated about Neptune's. Of course most were travelling on something of a budget, and were relieved to be able to simply walk to the hostel from the train or bus station. Also, given the size of the town, they felt that all its amenities were well within walking distance.

En-suite rooms have nice bathrooms

While guests did have some issues with the rooms themselves, those in the en-suite rooms felt that the bathrooms were spacious and very well renovated. It was definitely the highlight of the accommodation.

Friendly and very knowledgeable staff

A couple of guests mentioned not even having to go to the tourist bureau, such was the extensive local knowledge displayed by the staff at Neptune's. They felt they got excellent advice. The staff were also described as very friendly and welcoming.

Negative Reviews

Basic rooms, even for a hostel

While, of course, guests realised they were in a hostel, many felt the rooms were very spartan, even then. The dorm rooms were said to contain very little more than bunk beds, and the en-suite rooms not a great deal more.

Mattresses a bit uncomfortable

While it is inevitable that any hostel or hostel gets at least one or two complaints about uncomfortable mattress, simply due to varying tastes, there were a bit too many complaints here to simply disregard. Based on the number of complaints the mattresses may well be uncomfortable in a general sense.

No in-room Wi-Fi

While the Wi-Fi was said to be of a reasonable standard, several guests expressed their disappointment that it was not available in any of the rooms, only the public areas.
