About Parliament Inn

Ideally set in the heart of Kilkenny, Parliament Inn features a comfortable lounge with a television. The 16th-century Rothe House and Gardens, is adjacent to the inn, while the former 18th-century Smithwick's brewery is just across the street.

The straightforward rooms contain from one to eight beds that are suitable for group or family stays. The shared bathrooms feature both showers and tubs.

The reception desk offers baggage storage and can arrange recreational activities such as hiking, golfing, and fishing.

There is a pub downstairs serving traditional Irish drinks. La Rivista, which offers an Irish-bistro style of dining, is about a minute's walk away. The Italian Connection, which serves delectable Italian dishes in a casual setting, is just a few steps from Parliament Inn.

St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Canice’s Cathedral, both of which boast gothic revival architecture, can both be reached after a five-minute walk. Meanwhile, the property is just an eight-minute walk from Kilkenny Castle.

Positive Reviews

Central, handy location

The property is very close to the city centre, which travellers find convenient. Access to major attractions is very handy, but what most seems to impress guests here is the proximity to pubs and restaurants.

Ideal for group stays

Large groups of visitors to this historic city find this guest house perfect for group stays, especially on weekends. Guests consider the property an ideal place to hold their stag or hen parties, since many rooms are spacious enough to accommodate large numbers of people.

Negative Reviews

Poor maintenance

Lots of complaints stem from the lack of periodic upkeep to the facilities and fixtures of this guest house. Doors with faulty locks, leaking sinks, smelly carpets, and clogged drains are among the problems that need attention, guests say.

No parking facility

Travellers are disappointed that this property has no complimentary parking. Instead, they are advised to park their vehicles at the pay-parking facilities behind the hotel and across the street, causing some inconvenience.

Disturbing noise

Guests in rooms located above the pub are bothered by the loud music and singing until past midnight. Large groups of loud and noisy guests enter the hallways without regard for others. Instances happen when fire alarms go off because guests are smoking inside the rooms. Light sleepers seem to have a difficult time here.
