Positive Reviews

Central location

The Kilford Arms in Kilkenny is popular with guests primarily for its central location. Guests find it a convenient 90 minutes from Dublin. The train station is a five minute walk and there are many shops and bars around the hotel. The historic castle is a short walk and guests find the views from it amazing.

Best value hotel

Many guests call it the best value hotel in Ireland in terms of value for money. The rooms are comfortable. A big family room is present which guests say makes the perfect place for a hen party with drinks.

Helpful staff; good breakfast and pubs

Guests find the staff of the hotel helpful. The service is friendly and fast. Guests liked that breakfast is cooked to order and isn't anything that is left sitting in the buffet. The two pubs and night club of the hotel has everything at the guests' finger tips, all onsite.

Negative Reviews

Entry after late hours an issue

Guests did not like that the main door is closed after late hours and can be opened only from the inside after ringing a bell. They have to wait in the freezing cold for a long time until someone opens the door and wish that they are given swipe cards to open doors on their own accord.

Noise from cleaning staff and night club

Guests say they find the cleaning staff noisy in the early mornings as they talk loudly and slam doors. The night club music is found intrusively loud by most guests and they could hear patrons fighting and breaking glasses.

Key cards not working

Some of the key cards of guests were not working. Mix-ups like guests given another room's key card took place many times. Guests said that the shower drainage in most rooms was terrible too.
