Collection of Personal Data

If you only visit trivago, we do not collect any personal information from you. If you decide to open a user account on trivago, we will collect, process, and save your personal information for your account. Firstly, we will only collect your email address and your year of birth. The use of trivago is also possible using a pseudonym. Furthermore, you have the option to voluntarily submit additional information such as your name, gender, address and place of residence.

If you decide to actively participate on trivago - such as uploading photos or writing descriptions - you have the ability to choose what personal information is visible for all visitors of the platform. Visitors can then at any time view the information you shared such as username, age or place of residence. These settings can be changed at any time. trivago does not publish any personal information unless you have expressly given us your permission to do so.

If you registered separately to our newsletter, your email address will be saved and used for advertising purposes until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time without having to incur any extra costs other than the basic transmission costs of your access provider.

Use of Personal Information

Furthermore, your data will be collected and processed for our own marketing purposes. In addition to personal information that you submitted, this includes user behaviour on trivago and the correspondence between you and trivago. Remember to log out of your trivago member account and to close the browser window when you are done using trivago. Cancel or delete?

According to the German Federal Data Protection Act, you have the right to information about your stored data at no cost and the right to correct, block or delete this data. You may object to the use, processing and transfer of your personal data at any time by sending an informal message through the post or by email. This does not apply to the data required for processing your contract. After receipt of your objection, we will not use, process or forward the information in question for any other purpose other than to process your contract and to discontinue the sending of advertising material to you. You have the possibility to view, change and delete your personal information in your user profile. The deletion of your account can only be done by sending us a separate notification. You will then no longer be able to access content or functions on trivago that are only available to registered users.
