About Wavecrest

For more than 30 years this Victorian style building has served as a guest house for people travelling on the ferry between Wales and Ireland.

Free Wi-Fi, television, and a tea/coffee maker with sweets are available in each room. Some rooms feature an en suite, while others have access to a private bathroom. There is also a family room.

Wavecrest welcomes single travellers, families, and pets by arrangement for an additional charge. There is also a garage available for motor bikes.

A Welsh cooked breakfast is prepared daily, and guests can walk five minutes to The Boathouse, Langdon's and Harbourfront Bistro.

Wavecrest is located within a few minute walk of the centre of Holyhead. It is also near the ferry/train terminal, as well as the sea front. Nearby South Stack Lighthouse is a favourite location as is the rugged coastline, which is popular for bird watchers and cliff climbers.

Positive Reviews

The enthusiastic owner and high quality staff are what puts this guest house over the top Online comments reflect how the owner has a passion for hospitality, and puts the needs of guests first Whether it is getting up early to cook breakfast, or sharing a wealth of information about local history, the customer service here is exceptional.

Easy to reach for ferry travellers

Whether travellers are on their way to Ireland, or just coming into Wales, this guest house is a good stopover to get your bearings Since it is within walking distance of the ferry terminal, travellers won’t have to use much energy before they can put their feet up.

Excellent homemade breakfast

One highlight at the Wavecrest is the homemade breakfasts served each morning Guests can expect a full Welsh style meal cooked to each person’s tastes and dietary needs.

Negative Reviews

Smaller rooms leave some feeling cramped

While the Wavecrest is open to groups of travellers as well as single visitors, many of the rooms are on the small side Aside from bumping into furniture in the bedroom areas, the restrooms and small showers can also make some travellers feeling crowded.

Furniture could use some upgrading

Comfort is an issue for some guests when it comes to the furniture Worn out beds and nightstands could do with replacing.

Not much to sightsee

For people travelling between Wales and Ireland through Holyhead, the guest house provides a great place to rest Tourists visiting the area for something more, however, may be disappointed as many consider the town to be a place to pass through rather than visit long term.
