Positive Reviews

Beautiful building and setting

The building in which the hotel is set and the extensive acreage and gardens are some of the most highly-praised features of the establishment. Previous guests agree that the 17th century manor house in which the hotel is set is beautiful and has been well restored to provide an elegant, modern setting that is very enjoyable.

Outstanding service

Almost every reviewer mentions the exceptional service they experienced at the hotel, crediting the staff with being very courteous, kind and attentive with quick resolution any issues that may have arisen.

Lovely accommodation overall

The majority of previous guests found the hotel to be an ideal option for a relaxed getaway, with not only the lovely, relaxing setting and top-quality service recommending it, but also the delicious food served in the restaurant and a relatively convenient location for a major airport - London Luton.

Negative Reviews

No elevator

Many guests found the hotel's lack of an elevator to be an issue, as they had a lot of trouble carrying their bags up the stairs to their rooms. The problem was mostly regarding the difficulty posed at check in and out due to the lack of elevator, but some found it a nuisance throughout their stay as well.

Problems with heating

Several previous guests report problems with heating in their room, saying they were unfortunately very cold during their stay. Whether this is a one-off occurrence due to faulty heaters or the heating is simply not powerful enough in the older manor building is not defined, but the problem is mentioned by a number of reviewers.

Furnishings could use an update

According to many reviewers the furnishings and decor in this hotel are a little on the rundown side, and several previous guests say they felt an update would not be out of order.
