About Paseo Habana

Located in the city’s leafy El Vedado district, Islazul Paseo Habana Hotel offers basic budget accommodation to travellers looking for a quiet suburban retreat.

The rooms are simply furnished, have cooling tile on the floors, and feature en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, minibars, satellite TV’s, and telephones.

There is a lovely veranda out front, which is a great place to simply relax, while reception is available to help with providing local information. Wi-Fi is also available near reception.

There is a bar and café on the ground floor the serves all three meals. In fine weather guests often enjoy eating out on the veranda.

The immediate area is quite lovely, but many tourists enjoy visiting Old Havana, which is three miles to the east of Paseo Habana. Revolution Square, with its iconic Che Guevara mural, is about a mile away.

Positive Reviews

Very nice veranda out front

Several guests went out of their way to point out that the property has an especially lovely veranda out front. It was said to be a very chill place to relax with a book or drink, or maybe just enjoy the exquisite atmosphere.

Situated in a lovely leafy area

While not exactly described as being in the centre of Havana's nightlife, most guests really seemed to have appreciated the leafy surroundings. The atmosphere in the surrounding streets was said to be good, and there were also other interesting mansions dating back to before the revolution.

Good value for money

While guests did have a number of issues with the hotel, on reflection they concluded that they had paid a very low room-rate and were satisfied they had received good value in return.

Negative Reviews

“Cock a doodle doo”

It was mentioned by a couple of guests that the rooms at the back face something of an urban householder's farm. They have chickens and also a rooster, which was said to take delight in waking up guests with tender heads at an unseemly hour of the morning.

Poor and bizarre Wi-Fi

The Wi-Fi situation at the hotel tended to really confuse the guests. The café downstairs was said to be used by locals as a Wi-Fi hotspot, but under conditions that guest couldn't get themselves. The Wi-Fi they had available seemed inferior, and the whole situation seemed to cause a lot of confusion and unhappiness.

Rooms are a bit run down

There was not a lot of love shown towards the rooms. While not perhaps as bad as other Cuban hotels the guests had been in, they were still said to be run down and “tired” looking. Guests felt they desperately needed both renovation and maintenance.
