Positive Reviews

Well-presented common rooms.

The bar as well as the lounge has been described as a very pleasant place to sit and relax before or after dinner. The lounge was described as tastefully decorated and many guests enjoyed sitting by the open fire during the colder winter months.

Close to town centre and attractions.

The centre of Haddington with its many shops, bars and restaurants is a short walk away from the hotel which many guests found very convenient. The hotel is also close to the motorway which meant that a lot of guests used it as a base to explore this part of Scotland.

Courteous and helpful staff.

Guests were very complimentary about the overall level of service they received from the staff, describing them as attentive and courteous. Many offered helpful information to the guests with regards to the local area and responded to queries and requests quickly and effectively. Guests were made to feel welcome and well looked after.

Negative Reviews

Rooms too small.

The rooms have been described as quite small with very little space to move around in. Guests said that they felt cramped and claustrophobic and many objected to not having enough storage space. The bathrooms were also said to be small and pokey with no shelves or cabinets for guests to put their toiletries.

Tatty looking corridors.

The communal corridors of the hotel have been described as very dark and unattractive with worn carpets and an unpleasant musty smell. Many guests said that the corridors looked like they were in need of modernisation and did not leave a good impression.

Unattractive views.

Guests whose rooms were located at the back of the building were disappointed to find that their rooms were quite dark and overlooking the roof of the hotel’s conservatory.
