Positive Reviews

Clean rooms with en-suite.

Rooms at Thistle Cottage are clean and very well-maintained and, unlike many bed & breakfast-type places, each has its own en-suite bathroom with a choice between bath and shower. These are also very clean and well-maintained with no plumbing or other issues.

Friendly and personal service.

The owner provides friendly personal service to each guest seeing to their individual needs. This hands-on approach is a great way to make guests feel really welcome and the accommodating attitude extends to even allowing pets to sleep in the rooms at no extra charge.

Great breakfast and location.

A full and hearty traditional English or Scottish breakfast is prepared to individual tastes each morning and is a great way to start the day. Staff will even prepare a packed lunch on request for those adventuring around Ben Nevis Mountain. The location is very convenient and most attractions only take a few minutes to get to.

Negative Reviews

No dinner option.

As with most B&B's no dinner option is available on the property and there is also nothing within walking distance. The nearest town of Fort William is a ten minute drive away where one can pick up a variety of take-away or sit down dinners.

Slanted ceilings.

Rooms are on the second floor and all share a common feature of slanted ceilings. This may take some getting used to particularly for those not used to this type of ceiling. This is especially apparent in the small bathrooms where the chances of bumping into the ceiling when at the basin is quite high.

Have to pay cash

Be sure to bring along cash money as the property cannot facilitate credit card transactions.
