Most guests find the rooms to be sparkling clean, with comfortable furnishings and plenty of space. Several guests were pleased to find large bay windows with seating areas in their rooms, and enjoyed a view of the nicely maintained grounds. Many guests comment on the beds, which are very plush and well outfitted with crisp sheets.
Most guests give the front desk, housekeeping, and wait staff rave reviews for their professional customer service, often commenting on their smiling faces and willingness to accommodate special requests. Compliments are also due to the chef; guests rave about the hot breakfast buffet, and particularly appreciate the eggs cooked-to-order. The wait staff get high marks for friendly, attentive service.
Guests who like to exercise while travelling appreciate the fitness centre on site, which offers reasonably new models of all the basic equipment, as well as a well maintained indoor pool, sauna, and steam room. Guests note that the spa pool is large enough for about fifteen people, and also appreciate that there are plenty of fresh towels available.
The Marriott Peterborough features a few two-storey wings, and depending on which room you are assigned, you may be in for a walk. The hotel does not have a lift.
Wi-Fi is free for members of the chain's loyalty program, and membership is free. However, several guests were disappointed in this policy and felt it took away from their sense of "value for money".
A few guests were bothered by cigarette odor in non-smoking rooms, while others were disturbed by fire alarms in the night. Several guests found the bar prices a bit high, or were otherwise disappointed in the restaurant.
