Mercure George Hotel Reading (Reading, United Kingdom)

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and government guidelines we have taken the difficult decision to close the hotel. Our thoughts remain with everyone impacted across the world and we look forward to welcoming guests and visitors back soon. Dating back to at least 1423, the George Hotel is said to be the oldest building in Reading. It was one of the main relay hostels between London and the south-west of the country in the 18th century. Even today, it retains many of its original features, including Tudor-style arcades and a lovely cobbled courtyard. The main entrance, which overlooks King Street, has retained some original beams, while 18th and 19th century façades overlook the courtyard.
