Houseboat Hotels Hotels are just minutes from the town centre, with Sheffield Cathedral just a 12-minute walk away. National Rail Trains are also easily reachable on foot for local touring.
Guests loved the idea of being on a boat, while enjoying all the provided comforts of a conventional hotel room. The boats were described as well equipped, clean and cosy in decor, with good running water and a great heater to keep toasty-warm. Visitors were further charmed in the evening by the reflection of fairy lights, or the sound of rain on the awning roof.
Great Sheffield Location.
Guests enjoyed staying here over and over, not just for the unique experience of a boat stay, but for the excellent location. Houseboat Hotels is just a quick jaunt into Sheffield's vibrant town centre, with the famous Cathedral also just minutes by foot. For those hoping to explore a little further, National Rail is also just a walk away from the boat.
Everything Provided For a Great Breakfast.
No need to worry about missing out on the hotel's breakfast window here; Houseboat Hotels provides guests with a complimentary continental or full English breakfast, kept in the boat's fridge for preparation at one's leisure. Visitors enjoyed cooking in the boat's kitchenette, fully equipped with everything needed for the job, with heaps of fresh food provided for each new morning's brekky.
Could Be A Rocky Night.
Some guests complained of the boats rocking back and forth on windy weather days.
Only a Step Up From Camping.
While many guests felt the boats provided equal comfort to a conventional hotel room setting, others guests mentioned maintenance issues creating a "roughing it" feel. Complaints included water that wouldn't get above lukewarm, matches that didn't work, dead lightbulbs, low gas pressure causing problems with cooking, and broken locks on doors lending to security concerns.
A Welcome Was Missed.
Some guests were disappointed that no one was there to greet them upon arrival to the boat. Given the unconventional style of accommodation, and the specific instruction required to use the toilet and other equipment, a welcome and orientation of the boat's bits and bobs would have been appreciated.
