Rufflets St Andrews is a family-run, luxury country house hotel situated on the fringes of St Andrews in Scotland. Each of the 27 bedrooms has been individually and tastefully decorated. A number of room options are available, including suites, turret rooms, superior rooms, family rooms, classic rooms, standard rooms, gatehouse rooms and self-catering holiday lodges. All rooms benefit from en-suite facilities, free Wi-Fi and other basic amenities. Dogs are welcome in certain rooms by prior arrangement. The majority of guests comment that staff are first class and provide and excellent, efficient and professional service. Guests comment that staff seem to be knowledgable of the local area, and are friendly and helpful throughout the hotel.
A number of guests comment on the presentation of the hotel and its grounds. The grounds are reportedly beautiful, offering a range of seating areas in which guests can relax. Rooms are described as sleek, modern and stylish, and the main hotel building reportedly maintains its country house charm.
Guests seem to be more than happy with the quality of the food provided in the restaurant. There are a few disappointed comments, however the majority of guests seem to find the menu, food and service excellent.
There seem to be some soundproofing issues in certain parts of the hotel. A number of guests complain of a loud extractor fan which causes disturbance well into the night. Some rooms also seem to carry noise a great deal, resulting in guests hearing everything going on around them.
There is no lift service available in the hotel, meaning that disabled users may struggle. Staircases don’t seem to be excessively narrow, however, making carrying suitcases up stairs easier.
There doesn’t seem to be air conditioning available in the majority of the bedrooms, and a number of guests complain of rooms being very hot at times. Some guests also report problems with their windows, making it difficult to properly ventilate the room.
