The hostel provides free tea and coffee and for those travelling on a budget this amenity in the spacious kitchen was a welcomed one, with many people commenting on this and the cool kitchen and communal space.
Ideally located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, Mavericks City Lodge is a boutique hostel close to bars and restaurants in a unique part of the city. Bunk beds in dorm accommodation in a range of configurations from four to eight bed dorms are available. Bunks are assigned a locker and have a curtain, reading light and power outlets. Private rooms are available. Linen and towels are provided for the shared facilities. The non-smoking hostel has no curfew and offers free luggage storage, 24 hour reception, laundry facilitire and free Wi-Fi. Mavericks City Lodge provides a discount to travellers for the restaurant next door Fat Mamas and there are a number of eateries and pubs within a 5 minute walk. A supermarket is at end of the street for self-catering supplies. Mavericks City Lodge is a 15 minute walk to St Stephen's Basilica and the metro is a only 3 minutes from the hostel.

The hostel is in the heart of the Jewish quarter and the ruin pubs of Budapest and a lot of travellers who stayed at the hostel commented that its location could not have been better and that it was very close to the metro and easy to get around.
The dorm bunk beds have little curtains to block out light and some guests really liked this cubby style living. Others found the Wi-Fi to be adequate and the speed help them catch up on their Netflix regime.
On arrival to the hostel it only takes a cash payment in HUF. Reviewers in their comments warned future guests not to be caught out if coming from other countries where the Euro is the currency. Staff however were accommodating and only too happy to direct guests to the nearest cash point.
Some previous travellers who like to meet people in hostels found that this hostel was not the best for meeting other travellers as the common spaces were awkward and not conducive to a good chat. There are bean bags in the corridors and some reviewers found it weird that this space was the defacto common area.
Some backpackers who stayed at this hostel have labelled it as a party hostel. The hostel is on a popular pub crawl route and the noise from the street and of people coming home in the wee hours of the morning all featuring as bug-bears in negative reviews.
