Hotel Marconi is a 3-star hotel overlooking Venice’s Grand Canal on Riva del Vin, a minute’s walk from the Rialto Bridge and just a little further to the Rialto Markets and water bus stops. This historic hotel is furnished in classic Venetian style and is found in the San Polo sestieri, about five minutes’ walk from St. Mark’s Square and the Bridge of Sighs. Rooms feature period furniture, Murano glass lamps, air conditioning, private bathrooms with bath or shower, hairdryer, satellite TV, minibar, and safe. Guests can make use of information services offered at reception and free lobby Wi-Fi. Hot buffet breakfasts are served daily, while a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars can be found within a short walk. Hotel Marconi is within a ten-minute walk of Basilica dei Frari and Ca’ D’Oro, and 15 minutes away from Venice Santa Lucia train station by foot, or with vaporetto water bus.
Marconi’s location on Grand Canal was the obvious highlight of guests’ stays, as it is found almost on the Rialto Bridge, and provided a perfect spot for exploring Venice by foot. With water bus stations nearby, the train station within walking distance and restaurants and shops all around, people had everything they needed.
Guests found the breakfasts to be very good, with the wide variety of hot and cold dishes served in a large and beautiful dining room.
The staff is apparently very nice, especially the front desk team, who guests said proved very helpful with tourist enquiries and recommendations on where to eat and explore.
The lack of elevator could be a problem for those with disabilities or lots of luggage, but staff can help to port luggage up the stairs as long as you can follow.
Some guests reported that the free Wi-Fi only was actually only available in the lobby, while a small number considered the room air conditioning to be too weak for their liking.
According to a small number of guests, certain rooms can be on the small side and therefore a bit overpriced in their opinion. To a few, the style seemed a bit dated, but others appreciated the classical atmosphere, and a little noise from the streets is possible for those with rooms looking out over the street and canal.
