Well located in Paris’ exclusive 17th arrondissement, the Glasgow-Monceau Hotel offers newly refurbished accommodation in a property known for its regular art exhibitions. The modern rooms have been recently remodelled, and feature air conditioning, flat screen TV’s in-rooms safes, work desks and tea/coffee stations. Reception is open limited hours and can assist with basic business and concierge services. There is a small lounge area off the lobby for guests to relax in, as well as a charming outdoor terrace. A basic continental buffet breakfast is available each morning. For other meals, guests can hardly think they will be short of great options in Paris. Reception staff will be happy to offer dining recommendations if asked. There are often art and photographic exhibitions at the hotel, and the surrounding district offers much interest in the way of cafes and restaurants. The Eiffel Tower is 2.7 miles from the hotel and the Louvre 2.6 miles.
While they didn't exactly think it was the best breakfast they had ever had, many guests were pleasantly surprised that the breakfast offered was both varied and plentiful, though there was also some indication that late risers experienced a bit less variety available.
Although the hotel is not right in the centre of Paris, guests of course knew this when booking, and tended to like the location because it was within walking distance of several metro stations. From these they could quickly get to anywhere in Paris they wished to go. The immediate neighbourhood was also said to be very attractive.
It was very nearly impossible to find any guests who criticised the cleanliness. On the contrary, many went out of their way to compliment the cleaning staff on an excellent job.
While there were not a lot of noise complaints, some guests in the front facing rooms said they could be quite loud. It was mostly just street noise, rather than noise form other rooms.
Unfortunately the rooms are a bit small. While this is pretty typical for Paris, this fact didn't necessarily make guests feel any better about them. The building was said to have been designed by Hausmann, and it would be very difficult to change the room sizes, even if the hotel wished to do so.
Of course almost all the older buildings within the Boulevard Périphérique have tiny elevators, but this knowledge was cold comfort to claustrophobic guests, who found riding in the elevator a bit unnerving.
