Hotel Barken Viking (Gothenburg, Sweden)

Barken Viking boasts a wonderful location on the riverfront of Gothenburg. The hotel is conveniently within good public transportation connexions. Shopping enthusiasts will be thrilled to have the city's largest mall, Nordston shopping centre, within a five-minute walk of the hotel. For a fun night out, a visit to the casino is within a ten-minute walk.

Guests found the Barken Viking to be a wonderful and fun experience overall. Situated inside a former sailing ship, this unusual hotel has been described as quite memorable. In addition, guests were very happy with the quality of service they received during their stay, as the staff is quite friendly and accommodating.

The hotel offers a complimentary buffet breakfast to all guests and guests say it's a must.  Featuring both hot and cold options, the buffet offers plenty of variety and choices to suit everyone's preferences. In addition, the hotel offers free hot drinks in the lobby area around the clock.

Though most guests didn't have a problem, several did complain about their rooms being too cold and poor heating, especially in the winter season.

Most guests were disappointed that the onsite restaurant and bar closes quite early. Unfortunately, guests also noticed that there are limited dining options right next to the hotel but plenty can be found a short walk away.

Since the rooms are structured as they were during the ship's sailing days, you may find the floors in the room to be slanted. Originally designed to allow any water to easily drain out of the room, this aspect no longer serves its purpose. Many guests actually found it a bit annoying, as the beds are therefore positioned at an odd angle, making it awkward for sleeping.
