While the Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre is not downtown, the SkyTrain is within a five-minute walk and most guests found it to be a great base for exploring the city. Granville Island is within walking distance, and there are many shops, restaurants, and other amenities near the hotel as well.

Most guests report that they are welcomed warmly, with an efficient check-in process. The front desk staff as often described as friendly, helpful, and professional. Guests note that the team is quick to recommend restaurants, provide directions, and resolve any issues.

The hotel underwent an extensive interior renovation in 2012, and recent guests describe the rooms as modern, clean, and spacious, with comfortable beds and good soundproofing. Many guests are impressed by the city views.

Several guests have commented that there are only two elevators in the high rise building, and some guests found the wait a bit too long.

Several guests were disappointed that the standard rates do not include a buffet breakfast. Though it is sometimes possible to get a 'package' rate which does include the buffet, some guests were disappointed in the variety and quality of items on offer.

Several guests were displeased by the extra charge for the on site parking garage, particularly given the not inexpensive nightly rate for their rooms. A few others experienced confusion at the front desk around their reservation details, and others yet found the hotel's name, "Vancouver-Centre" to be misleading as the hotel is not inside the downtown core.
