Positive Reviews

Old meets new in the lovely rooms.

Set in a historic house but with modern conveniences, rooms at Poets House perfectly blend the old with the new. Guests can enjoy copper roll top baths, Bose soundsystems, iPads, and king-sized beds.

Delectable seasonal foods and charming high tea.

Accompanied by a large wine list, restaurant meals are described as delicious. The high tea is wonderful experience, and the buffet breakfast is expansive and well-stocked.

Convenient location is good for events.

With views of the cathedral, reception rooms, and a spa and salon on site, the hotel is a great choice for those who want to celebrate a special occasion.

Negative Reviews

Car park at an off-site location.

While valet parking is an available service at the hotel, some guests found it surprising that the actual parking lot is off-site. Due to this, retrieving cars can sometimes take longer than guests would like.

Aspects of the service could be improved.

There are times when service is not optimal, especially during the breakfast service when staff are quite busy.

Unable to open windows, no tea facilities.

One gripe is that room windows do not open, making fresh air hard to come by. There are also no tea or coffee making facilities provided in the rooms, and guests are instead encouraged to make use of the butler service.
