Positive Reviews

Great location in the centre of Edinburgh

The Broughton is situated in the centre of Edinburgh and many of the popular tourist attractions such as The Playhouse Theatre, Edinburgh Castle and Princes Street are easily reached on foot. Bus and rail transport links are also nearby for travel to and from Edinburgh. Guests appreciated the relatively quiet location of The Broughton in a typical residential street.

Delicious breakfast

Guests report that the complimentary Scottish breakfast served every day is very good. The portions are generous and the service is quick and efficient.

Free off-road parking

If you are planning to drive to Edinburgh then you'll find The Broughton's off-road car park very convenient. It's also free, so you'll be able to save your pennies for more enjoyable things such as sightseeing, eating-out and shopping.

Negative Reviews

Perhaps needs updating in places

Although most guests enjoy their stay at The Broughton, a few wondered whether some parts of the interior would benefit from updating here and there. In particular, it seems that the bathrooms are perhaps a little outdated.

Narrow stairs

A few guests mentioned that they found it a challenge carrying luggage to their room. There are reports that the stairs are narrow and there isn't a lift since this is a traditional Edinburgh town house.

Some rooms on the small side

According to feedback, a few of the rooms at The Broughton are quite small. Although this was an issue for some guests, others didn't see it as a major issue considering the reasonable price they paid for the room.
