Positive Reviews

Historic building with original features.

The Terrace Hotel offers comfortable accommodation within a Georgian era ‘A’ listed building designed in 1820. Guests can enjoy many of the original features including original cornices and high ceilings, typical of the period.

Prime location and quiet area.

The hotel is located in a prime location within Edinburgh, offering guests the opportunity to easily explore some of the city’s best attractions including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre and The Playhouse Theatre. The area is also one of the more quiet parts of the city, providing the advantage of a peaceful suburb and the convenience of a central location.

Fantastic breakfast options.

Breakfast options available at the hotel are included in the rate and there is something to please everyone. A full Scottish breakfast is cooked to order and includes eggs, bacon, sausage, tomato and mushrooms, while other healthier options include fresh fruit, cereals, porridge, oatcakes and fish. All options include a wide variety of teas and coffees.

Negative Reviews

No lift to access above ground floors.

The bed and breakfast consists of several floors and the above ground level floors are only accessible via a staircase. This can make it quite difficult and taxing for guests with a large amount of luggage or those with any health and mobility issues.

Strict breakfast times and strange showers.

The breakfast room closes at 9am and all guests must be finished by this time. The showers are operated electrically which can be quite difficult to operate and get used to achieving the right temperature for a shower.

Only paid parking available during the week.

Parking outside the hotel is quite limited and is charged at a daily rate from Monday to Friday. There is no charge for parking on a Saturday or on a Sunday.
