Positive Reviews

Convenient location for city centre

Although it is not the most centrally positioned, the majority of former guests were pleased with the Edinburgh House's close proximity to the city centre. Getting to Edinburgh's city centre is apparently a 20-minute walk from the guest house, while a bus stop is also close by for an added level of convenience.

Free on-street parking

Some previous visitors were happy that free on-street parking was possible outside of the guest house. Despite the fact that parking cannot be guaranteed, most did not have any difficulties in acquiring a spot when required.

Rooms kept tidy and clean

Whilst some past guests had issues with this aspect of the Edinburgh House, others found the hygiene standards to be at a good standard overall. The typical assessment is that the rooms were clean and tidy for the most part.

Negative Reviews

Dated and distressed rooms

The rooms at the Edinburgh House were often described as dated and in a substandard state by previous visitors. Along with their supposedly cramped size, reported issues with the rooms include a lack of heating and poor television reception.

Staff a mixed bag

Although the majority found the staff to be a positive experience of staying at the guest house, numerous former guests were critical about the service they received. On occasion, it has been said that the accommodation's personnel were not the most pleasant or communicative.

Price not worth it for additional extras

Despite them typically being standard aspects of most accommodations, the Edinburgh House reportedly charges extra for both breakfast and Wi-Fi - something that has upset many in the past. Furthermore, visitors that have purchased the Wi-Fi and breakfast respectively were generally disappointed with what they received.
