Positive Reviews

Ideal location, close to the sea and shops

Guests staying at The Mereside in Douglas, UK, find it convenient that the guesthouse is in an ideal location. It is close to the sea and has a number of shops, restaurants and bars nearby too. The bus stops and the electric and steam railway stations are in close proximity too, making commuting a breeze for the guests.

Friendly staff; excellent, varied menu

The staff is friendly and the members are always ready to help out with requests and queries of guests. Guests say that the restaurant and bar onsite serves great food. There is a varied menu featured and guests enjoy the ‘Pie Week', ‘Steak night' and ‘Mexican Night' and other varieties. The portions are generous as well.

Bright rooms and modern en suite

Rooms are excellent and many guests liked that they are bright letting in a lot of light but could be blacked out fully in the nights. They appreciate the modern en suite bathrooms, which they say has excellent shower facilities.

Negative Reviews

Poor Wi-Fi; no parking

Many guests say that the Wi-Fi signal is poor and very frustrating to access. There is no parking facility at the property, which guests say is a huge inconvenience.

Sloping floors in some rooms

Some guests say that some bedrooms have a sloping floor. This makes sleeping on the bed uncomfortable as guests feel that they are going to fall off the lopsided beds.

Bathroom issues

The en suite bathroom does not have adequate space between the toilet and shower. There is no shower curtain as well. These resulted in the toilet getting wet whenever guests used the shower. The private bathrooms with separate shower and separate toilet are very cramped and guests say they have barely enough room to squeeze into them.
