About La Fresa

Situated just a few hundred yards from popular Galera Beach, La Fresa offers bright and funky accommodation with all the action and communal facilities typical of a great hostel.

Both private rooms and dorms are available, with all being simply furnished and decorated in vibrant colours to add a bit of interest. Some of the private rooms have French doors opening onto the patio.

La Fresa has some funky communal lounging areas, both indoors and outside, where you can meet other travellers from around the world. Wi-Fi is available at the property and there is private parking for those who have rented cars on the island.

There is a communal kitchen were guests can prepare their own meals, but those who do not want to self cater have a number of great restaurants in Corralejo to choose from.

Galera Beach is popular with surfers and is just 600 yards from the hostel. Surfing lessons can be arranged if necessary.

Positive Reviews

Very relaxed atmosphere

This seems to be what guests most liked about the hostel. They described a place with a lot of character and atmosphere that was a true hostel, with the atmosphere of camaraderie and general “good vibes” that were felt throughout. Guests certainly did not feel as if they were in some sort of nondescript corporate property.

Very good location

Guests really loved the location of the hostel. It is a short distance from the beach and town centre, but guests liked this because it made for a much more relaxed and peaceful setting, saying that they were not bothered by masses of people or noise in the vicinity of the hostel.

Nice outdoor pool and terrace

Guests were pretty happy with the pool and terrace outside. Though nothing fancy, they felt that it was a great amenity to have in a budget property and really enjoyed swimming and hanging out in the sun.

Negative Reviews

Breakfast very basic

A number of guests mentioned that the breakfast available in the morning was very basic indeed, consisting of little more than toast and a hot drink. Those ho really believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day may need to make other arrangements.

Absence of locks

Guests were a bit disconcerted with the lack of locks. Many mentioned that there was no way to lock the communal bathroom when using it, so potentially having one’s privacy compromised, while some also said that the private rooms also could not be locked from the inside or outside.

A bit cold in winter

A good number of winter guests complained that the hostel as a whole was not well heated in winter. Despite being in the Canaries, it does get cold in winter, so they were not thrilled at the lack of good heating.
