Positive Reviews

Fabulous location that has everything you want

Staying here is a bonus combination of deluxe accommodations and leisure activities You can enjoy tennis, boat tours, watersports, archery, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, horseback riding, and sheepdog trials Cong village is only ten minutes away, and should you want to explore other areas, Galway City is 45 minutes away, and Connemara is an hour This is also a top spot for weddings.

Warm little details and great family activities

Little touches like drinks and cookies upon arrival, chocolates, and extra fluffy pillows are a delight Ashford Castle strongly welcomes families, and provides movie nights, afternoon teas, and spa services specifically for children.

Excellent varied menus in relaxing atmospheres

The onsite restaurants try to have something for everyone There is locally sourced seafood, traditional Irish fare, fancy desserts, an extensive wine selection, bistro grub, a children's menu, and several vegetarian options Live music, cosy settings, and views of the gardens and Cong River complement the food.

Negative Reviews

Rooms are overpriced and dowdy, and need updating

The rooms feature antiques and styles, colours, and textures that keep in character with the hotel's mediaeval history Although modernising the furnishings would be conflicting, the period looks seem too out of date and in strong need of a contemporary makeover Thus, the rates are considered excessive for rooms that are trying too hard.

In-room amenities are not as luxurious as expected

The in-room extras are not much beyond the ordinary, or not high quality enough Not having Wi-Fi in every room is also a downside.

Staff can either hover too much or be too abrupt

At times, hospitality, cleaning, or wait staff seem overwhelmed with duties, or curt with questions or requests On the other hand, they may enquire more than necessary if you have everything you need.
