About Carnival Court Backpackers

Carnival Court Backpackers, set in a grand Victorian building, is ideal for budget-conscious travellers and party-goers in the heart of Cape Town's trendy Long Street.

The hostel hosts four or six-bed dormitories, most with their own wash-hand basin. For more privacy, guests can choose to stay in a single or double private room.

Carnival Court Backpackers offers two large balconies overlooking Long Street and free Wi-Fi is available. Tours and safaris can be reserved at the travel desk.

There is a lively onsite bar, where guests can socialise and enjoy live music, a game of pool or table football. There are many places to eat on Long Street, and not much better for a sumptuous burger or milkshake than The Royale Eatery, just a minute's walk away.

Greenmarket Square can be reached in eight minutes by foot, whilst the V&A Waterfront is four kilometres away. The Table Mountain cable car and Camps Bay beach are just a short 20-minute bus-ride from the hotel.

Positive Reviews

Great party atmosphere

If travelling is about socialising and having a good time without breaking the bank, this hostel may feel like a dream for you. Guests say there is a good vibe and they enjoy the party nights in the onsite bar.

Lively location on Long Street

You don't have far to go to plunge yourself in the party mood upon leaving the hostel. Guests love being able to wander out of the hostel and experience the bars, restaurants and clubs of Long Street straight away. Being centrally located, you are not far from anything – with shops near by and bus services to popular attractions.

Friendly staff

The welcoming team at the hostel make guests feel right at home. They are very nice and knowledgeable about the city and what there is to do.

Negative Reviews

Extremely noisy environment

If you're coming to Cape Town for a relaxing break and wanting some time to chill out, this hostel is probably not the place for you. Guests warn that you may not be able to sleep until the early hours as you'll probably be kept up by the loud music from the bar and the constant nose from the revellers and traffic on Long Street.

Not the most comfortable place to stay

Unless you're a travel-hardened backpacker, you probably will have stayed in a lot comfier rooms than these. Guests feel that the hotel seems old and tired and not very secure on the whole, whilst the rooms are very small and can be quite hot.

Cleanliness issues

Guests do not always find this accommodation to be the most cleanest they have ever stayed in. The shared bathroom facilities in particular could be better maintained, whilst the rooms often seem to be dirty.
