Positive Reviews

Peaceful and scenic setting.

The hotel is tucked away in the picturesque Buckinghamshire countryside and surrounded by 7 acres of private gardens which provide a peaceful and scenic backdrop. Guests appreciated being away from the hustle and bustle and enjoyed the scenic views of the gardens which can be seen from most rooms. If you are looking for somewhere secluded and tranquil then you certainly won't be disappointed.

Spacious rooms, full of character.

Guests were pleased to find that the size of their rooms exceeded their expectations with stating that they had plenty of storage space and also lots of room to move around. Many appreciated the traditional and individual decor as well as the original period features such as bay windows and sloping ceilings.

Quality food and plenty of choice.

From the freshly prepared breakfasts through to the afternoon cream teas and evening meals, all the food served at the hotel has been described as tasty and well-prepared. Guests found many of their favourite dishes on the menus which were said to be extensive and also appreciate the fact that the portions were generous.

Negative Reviews

Too many parties.

The hotel is a popular venue for wedding receptions and during times when parties were held on-site guests said they were inconvenienced as the service became quite sluggish and they were not able to dine at the restaurant.

Too few staff.

Guests noticed a general shortage of staff as quite a few said that they did not find anyone on reception when they wanted to check-in and that there was only one person serving breakfast. Similarly, the service at the bar was also said to be slow.

Maintenance issues.

Several maintenance-related issues were reported by the guests ranging from faulty lights, cracked bathroom tiles and window frames in need of repair.
