Positive Reviews

Well-appointed rooms in woodland surrounds

Located down a long drive, this hotel has a true country house atmosphere. This combined with the period surrounds and large, well-appointed rooms to set the tone for an all-around excellent guest experience.

Excellent facilities, good location

In addition to good-sized, comfortable rooms, this hotel's leisure facilities are top-class. The sauna and steam room received rave reviews while other visitors loved the convenience of the nearby golf course. City slickers keen for a weekend break in the country were also happy to note that this hotel is easily accessed from the nearby M4.

Pleasant staff cater for all occasions

The staff at this property is helpful and accommodating. This property is used as a venue for weddings and meetings and it's these big gatherings that see staff in their element; wedding guests in particular report that the team go out of their way to make their special day extra special.

Negative Reviews

Mixed reviews on the décor

A lot of guests loved the period feel of this property, but quite a number also felt that the interior furnishings weren't to their taste. Some also felt that the furniture itself was starting to show signs of wear and tear.

Meals left some hungry for more

While this property seems to excel at lunches and afternoon teas, it appears that some meals - the full English as well as some dinner options - left a number of diners wanting more. Small portion sizes were an issue here.

Brusque behavior

Despite many compliments on staff attitude here, those making initial enquiries into using the hotel as a wedding venue reported brusque, abrupt treatment from some members of the property's wedding team.
