Positive Reviews

Updated rooms were well-cleaned and inexpensive

Although the rooms reportedly weren’t the height of luxury, they were more than sufficiently clean and comfortable for a stopover. Reviewers praised the way the rooms had a new look with modern decor, flat-screen TVs and tea and coffee-making facilities. There was also praise for the cosy king-size beds. The usually reasonable room rates went down well with most travellers and prompted them to say they got decent value for money.

Positive about customer service

Guests often sang the praises of the friendly, helpful and efficient members of staff, who made the check-in process quick and easy.

City centre location near shops and dining

Reviewers loved the city centre location as it put them within easy walking distance of shopping centres, bars and places to eat plus museums, theatres and attractions. Moreover, there were railway stations and bus stops located just a short walk away. Drivers said road links were good so it was pretty simple to explore a little further afield to discover regional sports venues, parks and Yorkshire beauty spots.

Negative Reviews

Guests criticized free Wi-Fi time limits

Visitors welcomed the free access to the Wi-Fi network. However, after 30 minutes they had to pay a small fee for continued use. This format met with disapproval from the vast majority of users, especially those who were expecting it be free at all times.

Room temperature grumbles

Critics occasionally claimed some of the rooms were prone to becoming stuffy in warmer weather. Others found it difficult to adjust the room temperature to their liking.

Nuisance noise detected

Although many guests said they had a fairly peaceful stay, light sleepers were occasionally disturbed by nuisance noise from neighbouring rooms. The sound of slamming doors was also said to travel rather easily through the building.
