Positive Reviews

A filling breakfast with a range of options.

Guests have been highly complimentary of the breakfast menu, which is included in price of your stay. In addition to the full English breakfast on offer, The Abbey Lodge also provides a range of cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruits to give you a nutritious start to the day.

Spacious rooms with modern bathrooms.

Many guests appreciate the generous size of the bedrooms and have also noted the high quality furnishings. The bathrooms are also reported to be large and modern, and the Jacuzzi in the superior room offers a relaxing end to your day. The vast majority of guests have also commented on the comfortable beds.

Friendly staff who go the extra mile.

Staff members at The Abbey Lodge are known for completing regular duties in an efficient and friendly manner. Furthermore, many guests have been pleased with the extra help at reception when inquiring about the local area.

Negative Reviews

Confusion over cancellation policy.

Although the hotel itself has drawn many positive reviews, several guests have been critical of the hotel’s cancellation policy, which seems to be a little murky. There are two sides to every story of course, so read the fine print when booking to avoid any confusion.

Feeling hot, hot, hot.

Extra blankets won’t be necessary for a good nights’ sleep at The Abbey Lodge. Some guests, who stayed during the summer months, found that the rooms can become quite warm, and several have slept with the window open.

A tight squeeze.

Parking is available, however finding a spot is reported to be tight if there is an event on-site or if you are arriving late in the day. Some customers have also been parked in when preparing to leave. In most cases, staff members can advise where suitable street parking is available instead, or can easily contact the owner of the offending vehicle.
