Positive Reviews

Great food and drink.

Guests comment on the good quality of food and drink served here. Breakfast is reportedly good, and additional requirements or limitations are catered for. Guests also comment on the bar, which seems to be a modern and luxurious area, offering a range of good cocktails.

Good location for day trips out.

A few reviews mention the location of the hotel, commenting that there are plenty of activities and places of interest within the surrounding area. Guests do comment that the town of Barrow has very little in it, and that driving is a necessity.

Friendly, knowledgable staff.

Whilst there are some reviews that suggest that staff could be more friendly, the majority of reviews describe staff as friendly and helpful, and knowledgable of the surrounding area, happy to give advice on various activities and trips when asked.

Negative Reviews

Potentially overpriced.

Some guests state that they would not pay full price for the service offered by the hotel, and that had they not received deals online, they would not be happy with the value for money.

Some noise from other guests and the pub downstairs.

A couple of reviews complain of noise from other guests, particularly where there seem to have been large groups of young people celebrating birthdays and other events. Guests suggest that this is not an ideal hotel for a quiet, romantic getaway.

Not finished to a high standard.

The overarching complaint here is that the hotel is not finished to a high standard, particularly in the bedrooms. Guests comment on poor paintwork, uncomfortable beds and poorly-fitted fixtures and fittings. The downstairs, communal areas of the hotel seem to be finished to a much higher standard.
