Positive Reviews

All kinds of eye candy

Travellers rave about the hotel's interior decor, often commenting on the unique mix of bold floral patterns in the wallpaper, furnishings, and carpet, as well as the sparkling chandeliers. The guest rooms and on-site cafe photograph very well, and for many guests, taking pictures is among the highlights of their stay. Guests also appreciate the peaceful view of the mountains from the gracious verandah at the rear of the property.

High marks for hospitality

The reception personnel have earned many positive reviews for their polite and professional brand of hospitality. Guests often comment on their smiling faces and accommodating responses to inquires and requests. Compliments also go to the baker at the Vanilla Cafe; the cupcakes are widely recommended.

Negative Reviews

The cafe is a noisy neighbour

Guests in rooms adjoining and directly below the cafe have found noise to be an issue, noting that the sounds of music, conversation, and scraping chairs keep them up at night and wake them up early in the morning as well.

A late start to the day

While guests generally enjoy the light set breakfast included in their room rate, they are less enthusiastic about the long wait for it to arrive, noting that the early morning hours are a busy time for the cafe.

A little more pretty than practical

In describing the thoughtfully decorated guest rooms, guests have commented that the practical details have not received as much attention as the 'looks' have. Creaky floors, heavy sliding doors, difficulties with water temperature or pressure, and inadequate clothing storage space are commonly reported sources of irritation.
